The 2011 Trip
Part 170 – Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

We were up at 7:30AM to a nice sunny morning. We had a nice view from the hill. We could see quite a distance including the number one four lane highway and the railroad across the valley. The trains were those very long western trains. They often consisted of the same cars. The train would be all containers or all tank cars and so on.

It was still quite cool and we made good use of the furnace.

By 9:50AM we had everything cleaned up and gone via email. Betty phoned at 9:55AM to say they would be a bit late. Betty and Bill arrived about 10:20AM. We went with them to a mall. Betty and Joan went shopping and Bill and I visited with a couple of amateur radio operators.

From the mall we went to Betty and Bill's home. We had lunch with them and visited the afternoon away. Don and Carol came over at 5:30PM. We visited for awhile and then went to the Royal Canadian Legion at Redcliff, Alberta for dinner.

Spud, Bill, Don, Carol and Betty at the Redcliff Legion. Spud and Bill were together at Inuvik Aeradio VFA6. Bill and Don were together at Medicine Hat Aeradio VFM3. All three had actually operated a number of the Northern and Western Aeradio Stations over the years. There were many memories refreshed over the day. After dinner we all came to our trailer and visited until late in the evening.

It started to rain in the afternoon and became a steady rain all evening.
Another great day was history.
